The ALU branch in the Odessa region invites you to participate in the event “Economic Disputes with the State: Legal Process in the Shadow of Leviathan”, which will be held on August 8, 2025 in the city of Odesa.
Purpose of the event:
To discuss how judicial practice responds to challenges in disputes with the state – the largest player in the public contracts market. The event is designed to explore the limits of the parties’ liability in such cases where the structural advantage of the state affects the course of the process, as well as to form a platform for discussing the complex intersections of economic and criminal processes.
Relevance:
The state as a customer has a powerful influence on the public contract market, but its participation in economic disputes is often accompanied by an institutional advantage: in time, resources, and mechanisms of influence. This creates challenges for business, which finds itself in conditions of inequality of the parties. Judicial practice is gradually outlining the limits of such state participation. At the same time, economic disputes are increasingly accompanied by pre-trial intervention or investigations, which further complicates law enforcement. The event will help analyze these trends, as well as find a balance between the public interest and the protection of the rights of private entities.
