Delayed payments to military personnel: where to turn for help?
Delayed payments is a violation of the terms of payment of wages, compensations or other monetary obligations. The legislation provides for the liability of employers and ways to protect the rights of employees.
Larysa Kys, a lawyer at the law firm DE-JURE, who specializes in military law, commented for the publication “Facts” on what military personnel who are delayed in receiving their cash rewards should do.
Delayed payments to military personnel can occur for various reasons: lack of funds in the budget, a failure in accounting during the transfer of a military personnel from one military unit to another, untimely receipt of documents and their improper execution.
If the payment of a cash reward is delayed, the first thing you need to do is find out the reason for this: is it a delay at the state level, a specific military unit, or all units? In the event of a delay at the military unit level, you should leave a complaint (voice message) on the hotline (1512) or write to the Ministry of Defense by e-mail. In this case, you must indicate your full name, rank, military unit number, and the period of delay in payments.
