The Register of Damages has opened categories for businesses
On April 29, a long-awaited milestone took place: the Register of Damage for Ukraine (RD4U) began accepting applications from legal entities and the state.
From now on, private and state-owned businesses, just like individuals, can record systemic losses (such as destruction of a production line, a warehouse with materials or finished goods, disruption of supply chains, or suspension of business operations) in order to seek compensation.
Companies of any form of ownership may apply: LLCs, joint-stock companies, as well as state and municipal enterprises. Currently, the following categories of damages are open:
- C1.1, C1.2 — damage to or destruction of infrastructure. These include the value of property and repair costs, including future expenses;
- C3.1 — damage, destruction, or loss of assets. This also includes lost profits related to these assets, total business loss, and direct company expenses.
After verification, applications are submitted to RD4U and then forwarded to the future International Compensation Commission. The convention on its establishment has already been signed by 35 states and the EU.
If your company has assets damaged or lost due to russian military aggression since February 24, 2022, you can start collecting documentation now. Evidence includes photo and video records of the incident, ownership documents, reports, inventories, valuations, and financial statements before and after the damage. The register recommends keeping original documents for later stages of review. The company director or an authorized representative must then submit an application to RD4U via the Diia platform.
Submitting an application does not guarantee compensation, but it is a required step to participate in the international compensation mechanism. If you have questions about RD4U, contact the law firm “DE-JURE”.
