We teach how to protect property rights during war
In conditions of full-scale war, millions of Ukrainians — both individuals and entrepreneurs — are faced with the destruction and damage of real estate. It is often accompanied by the loss of documents, so the task of proving ownership and receiving compensation turns into a difficult task that should be entrusted to a professional lawyer. Moreover, with the development of Ukrainian and international programs for compensation for damage, lawyers also need to be aware of the latest innovations and changes.
Recently, Doctor of Law, lawyer, partner of the law firm “DE-JURE” Artem Ripenko joined the training for lawyers “Protection of property rights of victims of war: international legal context, national instruments and the Register of Damages for Ukraine”, the purpose of which was:
- deepening practical knowledge about working with the International Register of Damages and other mechanisms for compensation for citizens injured as a result of hostilities;
- developing practical algorithms for protecting housing and property rights in national procedures, including filing a lawsuit and applying compensation programs;
- developing a comprehensive approach to supporting clients in cases of compensation for damages from the initial consultation to the implementation of the compensation decision.
Much attention was also paid to the analysis of cases from the practice of “DE-JURE” – we conduct many cases of compensation for victims of the Russian Federation’s military aggression and help clients obtain compensation. We hope that our developments will benefit colleagues.
The training program was implemented by the Ukrainian Bar Association with the support of the International Rescue Committee.
